WeRecycle Portal (VPN requirements)

Why are new security features for geofencing being introduced on the WeRecycle Portal?  

Geofencing security features were introduced on the WeRecycle Portal to improve platform security and protect users from unauthorized access attempts. By limiting access to known, trusted geographic regions where our producers, suppliers and partners operate, we can reduce unnecessary network traffic, minimize system exposure to threats and maintain a more predictable operating environment. 

Access from within North America 

  • If you are located in North America (i.e., Canada, the United States or Mexico) you should be able to access the WeRecycle Portal directly without using a VPN by visiting https://werecycle.circularmaterials.ca. 

  • If you experience access issues, please confirm your internet connection and browser settings. If the access problem persists then please contact Circular Materials Support

Access from outside North America 

If you are located outside North America, access to the WeRecycle Portal may be restricted. Please follow the steps below to mitigate this issue: 

1. Connect via your company’s VPN

2. Contact your company’s IT department  

  • If you still cannot gain access, please contact your company’s IT department and ask them to verify that the VPN is configured to capture and route traffic directed at: werecycle.circularmaterials.ca through a North American IP address. 

3. If VPN access is not available: 

  • Please work with your company’s IT department to arrange VPN connectivity that routes through North America. 
  • If VPN access cannot be arranged, please designate a user who is located in North America (i.e., Canada, the United States or Mexico) to perform data entry on your behalf. 

Ongoing issues 

If, after following the above steps, you continue to experience access issues, please email Circular Materials Support for additional assistance. Please include the following information in your email so we best support you:  

  • Include a description of the issue, including screenshots of error messages. 
  • Include details about your location, VPN setup and the steps you’ve taken to mitigate.
