Overview of Reporting and Fee Obligations by Province

All producers/stewards are required to collect, organize and submit data for designated packaging and paper materials supplied to consumers in each province where they are obligated. These Annual Producer Reports must be submitted in the WeRecycle Portal by May 31 each year.

Obligated producers/stewards pay annual fees based on the quantities of designated packaging and paper materials they supplied to consumers. Fees cover the costs associated with the collection, transportation and processing of designated materials. Fee methodologies were developed through extensive consultation with producers and continue to be refined to ensure fairness and reflect ongoing changes in the recycling industry.

For more information on the latest annual program budgets and fees, please see detailed information in our Report to Producers and Annual Producer Meeting presentation here.
